We’re excited to share major strides in our vibration program with the introduction of Emerson’s AMS Wireless Vibration Monitor (Model 9530). This system marks a turning point in how we approach reliability at Tacora - specifically, how we address gearing problems, historically our leading cause of downtime on the mills.
The 9530 system provides continuous monitoring on critical mill assets, giving us real-time insights into how operating conditions - particularly load and lubrication - affect machine health. For the first time, we’re able to continuously observe:
This system doesn't replace our handheld AMS 2140,which remains our tool of choice for in-depth diagnostics and troubleshooting. Instead, the 9530 adds a critical layer of proactive detection, allowing us to act before a problem escalates into failure.
By combining the strengths of both systems, we’ve enhanced our ability to see problems sooner, plan work in a smarter way, and reduce unscheduled downtime.
This upgrade is a major step forward in our mission to build a world-class condition-based maintenance program at Tacora.
